Whole Body Cryotherapy - The WHY

Athletes from the high school level on are no strangers to the power of cold therapy. Fortunately, we no longer have to submerge our entire bodies in freezing cold ice baths for 20-30 minutes at a time!

Cryo is a dry, cold therapy that invokes the same physiological response as an ice bath without actually freezing the tissues in your body or lowering your core temperature. Read on to find YOUR why for jumping into the "big freeze."

Athletic Recovery

During your Whole Body Cryotherapy (WBC) session, your body works to naturally narrow the blood vessels to keep blood away from the extremities and closer to vital organs to protect them from the extreme temperatures. During this process, the blood becomes hyper-oxygenated and nutrient rich. Once the cold temperatures are removed and the body begins to warm itself, the vessels widen again - pushing this highly oxygenated blood out to your entire body, aiding in repair and rehabilitation.

WBC received during and throughout training will increase energy, stamina, and metabolic rate. Post-training cryo sessions will accelerate recovery and aid in injury repair.

Additional benefits for athletes:

  • Quicker injury rehabilitation
  • Expedited surgical recovery
  • Reduction of chronic pain and inflammation
  • Shortened recovery time
  • Boost in athletic performance and stamina
  • Faster return to training and competing

Cryotherapy for Health & Wellness

For Chronic Ailments

Medical studies suggest that CRYO sessions can help alleviate the symptoms of a number of chronic pain conditions including rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, fibromyalgia, multiple sclerosis (MS), auto immune disorders, psoriasis, psoriatic arthritis, dermatitis, and osteoporosis. Additional studies have shown that CRYO sessions can also be beneficial in the care of those with mood disorders including anxiety and depression due to the release of endorphins and increased energy.

To Accelerate Your Metabolism

WBC tricks the body into "survival mode" during your 2-3 minute session. As a result, the body works to protect vital organs at its core and revs up the metabolism to generate heat. While the body is not at risk, this process can increase your daily calorie burn by 500-800 calories on the day of your session.

Health & Wellness Benefits:

  • Relief from chronic pain
  • Faster surgical recovery
  • Reduction in inflammation
  • Increased circulation from vasodialation (widening of blood vessels)

Cryotherapy for Beauty & Anti-aging

The cryo chamber uses gasiform nitrogen to wrap the body in sub-zero temperatures. The body's exposure to the extreme cold stimulates the production of collagen which rejuvenates the skin and reduces cellulite. As a result, our cryotherapy clients have reported renewed elasticity, tighter and more evenly toned skin, and a more youthful appearance.

  • Smooth, toned skin
  • Stimulation of collagen
  • Reduction of cellulite and blemishes
  • Strengthens hair and nails
